Union Gas is Offering up to $2,500 in Rebates for Energy-Saving Renovations
Attention all Union Gas customers!
Union Gas is offering new ways to save when upgrading your home to be more energy efficient.
They have launched a new program called “Home Reno Rebates” which offers existing Union Gas customers the opportunity to save up to $2,500 in rebates – $500 of which can be gained through HVAC upgrades. This offer is available if your current operational furnace operates below 90% efficiency and you upgrade it to a new system with 95% efficiency or better.
Last week we wrote about HAMCO’s most efficient furnaces, all of which can operate above 95% AFUE.
The other rebates are available for other energy-smart upgrades such as, installing high-efficiency tankless water heaters improving the insulation and sealing in your home. These energy incentives are offered to push people to be more environmentally friendly, but they’ll also help decrease your monthly energy bills.
According to Union Gas, with these small upgrades, you could see up to a 20% decrease in annual energy spending every year.
That’s a significant change in the price of your energy bills and the efficiency of your cooling system isn’t even included in that. As a whole, your heating and cooling needs can account for up to 60% of your energy bill every month.
With all the incentives available, there is no excuse to use an older, inefficient system.
If your system is between 10 and 15 years of age, its efficiency starts to decrease and the likelihood of part failure becomes much higher. If you combine the Union Gas incentive, with the SaveONenergy incentives from the IESO, there is up to $1,150 in savings before even getting into any potential manufacturer rebates.
To qualify for the Union Gas rebates you also have to meet these requirements:
- Have an active Union Gas account.
- Have a natural gas furnace/boiler.
- Own a detached, semi-detached home, or townhouse.
- Live in Central or Southwestern Ontario.
You must also:
- Do an energy assessment both before and after your renovation.
- Complete at least two eligible renovations.
