Where do you hide your gifts?
Kids can get rather curious, and as each day passes the holiday season seems harder and harder to wait for. For this reason, all parents need a hiding spot.
Some parents choose their closets, some choose under the bed, some choose a safe with 6 inches of fortified steel and a lock that scans your retina before opening (our kids can get crafty). However, we’re not here to tell you where to hide your gifts, we’re warning you where not to hide them.
Never hide your presents in the furnace room.
The furnace room is a tempting place to hide gifts: it’s full of cobwebs, it’s dark, it’s loud and it’s hot. That’s enough to make anyone shy away from going in, let alone your kids. But, believe it or not there are things more important than ensuring your gifts are a surprise.
We always advise our customers to avoid having any clutter surrounding any of their home comfort equipment.
HVAC systems require clearances and ventilation. Presents and clutter can block the appliance, or other heating and cooling appliances. This can cause early part failure, ineffective performance or even system breakdowns.
In addition to performance issues, presents in the furnace room can be a fire hazard! The heat being produced by this equipment will only get hotter with more in the room and most presents are covered in flammable paper and other potentially flammable products.
We just want to make sure you and your presents have a safe and happy holiday season, so don’t put them in the furnace room. All we ask is you find another hiding spot for your presents this year.
