Eliminating those hot and cold spots in your home

CategoriesNews / Tips

Do you have an addition or a room on the second floor of your home that’s either too hot or too cold?

These are some of the most common problems that homeowners face when attempting to keep their home at a comfortable temperature. If you have a central air system, you may not have the proper ductwork required to reach an addition and/or some parts of the second level of your home.

While some are not aware of it, a solution in the form of a ductless split system (or mini-split system) has been on the North American market for about 15 years. These systems don’t require any previous ductwork and provide both heating and cooling.

Ductless systems are made up of two components; one unit that goes directly on the wall in the room of your choosing, and another unit that is set-up outside your home.

Our very own Andrew Vasilak paid a visit to our friends at Listed Plus TV to discuss one ductless split system in particular: The Halcyon Fujitsu Mini Split.

Another, more versatile, ductless system is the multi-zone mini-split system. This system provides all of the same benefits discussed above and in the video, but is geared towards heating and/or cooling multiple rooms/spaces in your whole home.

While a mini-split system uses just one indoor unit, a multi zone mini-split system can have multiple units located throughout the home. This makes mini-splits ideal for additions or hot/cold spots in your home and multi-splits more suited as a whole home solution. Specifically for homes that don’t have a ductwork system to add central air conditioning. eg. Hot water heated homes and electric baseboards.

Ductless systems are generally more efficient than central air systems (they provide some of the highest SEER ratings in the industry), especially when you include the additional control provided by having units in each room of your home. The systems we offer are also backed by some of the best warranties in the industry!
